Connecting to AccuRanker MCP

Getting Started

How to connect AccuRanker MCP to ChatGPT, Claude, and other MCP-capable assistants

AccuRanker MCP enables AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude to read your AccuRanker and AccuLLM data. Thus, you can talk to your AI assistant like you would talk to a colleague who has access to AccuRanker. Ask questions about your rankings, Share of Voice, traffic value, and AI visibility, and get answers based on your actual data.

You can also use the MCP for SEO content work. Ask the AI assistant to find keyword opportunities, compare topics, suggest content ideas, or identify pages that could benefit from new or updated content using your rankings, search volume, intent, landing pages, and competitor data.

Plans and limits

  • Included in your plan: Access to the MCP is included in your AccuRanker or AccuLLM subscription — no separate billing.
  • AccuLLM data requires an active AccuLLM plan: Without an active plan, you will not see any AI visibility data, but the rest of the MCP will still work.
  • Read-only access: The MCP cannot create, edit, or delete keywords, tags, domains, or settings. All changes are still made by you in the AccuRanker app.
  • Permissions follow your login: The MCP can only access the data available to the AccuRanker user that is connected to the MCP.

How to Connect with Your AI Assistant

The first time you connect to the MCP, you will be asked to authorize the AI assistant. If you are not logged in to your AccuRanker account, you will be asked to log in first. There is no extra setup in the app. Your authorization persists across conversations, but some AI assistants require you to activate the MCP in each chat.

Install the AccuRanker app from the Apps section in ChatGPT: AccuRanker Search Intelligence

ChatGPT can use the MCP automatically when it detects that AccuRanker data is relevant to your question. You can also ask ChatGPT to use the app in one of two ways:

  1. Write @AccuRanker Search Intelligence in the chat bar before your prompt.
  2. Click the + button next to “Ask anything”, select More, and click the app.

Be aware that ChatGPT will render certain results (like domain KPI dashboards) as interactive widgets rather than plain text.

What Data Can the AI Assistant Read?

The MCP lets your AI assistant read AccuRanker and AccuLLM data available to the user you authorized. It can fetch and analyze:

  • SEO performance: Domains, keywords, landing pages, tags, competitors, rank history, SERP details, and KPI comparisons.
  • AI visibility: Brands, prompts, LLM responses, brand mentions, cited sources, sentiment, and competitor visibility (requires an active AccuLLM plan).
  • Filters and knowledge: AccuRanker URLs, filter parameters, glossary definitions, fields, metrics, and feature behavior.

For a full list of the actions the assistant can take, see the tool reference.

What You Can Ask

Here are a few examples to give you a feel of how you can use the MCP:

  • Identify what changed: "What changed on my domain in the last 7 days? Highlight keywords that lost more than 5 ranks."
  • Compare periods: "Compare Share of Voice and traffic value for my domains between this month and last month."
  • Prioritize keyword opportunities: "Find commercial-intent keywords where my domain ranks 11–20 and sort them by search volume."
  • Find content opportunities: "Find keywords with high search volume where my domain ranks outside the top 10, then suggest content ideas or pages that could benefit from new or updated content."
  • Analyze AI visibility (AccuLLM plan required): "How often do my brands appear in answers to my tracked prompts, and who are the top competing brands?"
  • Understand an AccuRanker concept: "What is the difference between Share of Voice and AI Share of Voice?" The AI assistant reads AccuRanker's glossary, so answers come from these definitions.
  • Decode and build AccuRanker URLs: Paste an AccuRanker URL and ask, "What is in this view?" The AI assistant can decode the filters or build a new filtered URL.

Tips for getting good answers

  • Choose the view: Say whether you want overall domain performance, a keyword list, a breakdown by tag or landing page, or history for a specific keyword, tag, or landing page.
  • Set the scope: Ask for filters in plain language. Include the domain, date range, and any filters that matter (e.g., tags, folders, keywords, search engine, search type, country locale, or location).
  • Be specific about the task: Say whether you want a summary, comparison, keyword list, content ideas, or an explanation. The less room for interpretation, the better.
  • Use AccuRanker terminology: Ask for rank, Share of Voice, traffic value, CTR, AI Share of Voice, or AI search volume instead of broader terms like "visibility".
  • Say how you want the answer: Ask for a table, ranked list, short summary, or next steps if that is what you need.

Troubleshooting

"The AI assistant cannot connect to the MCP."
Check that the MCP URL is exactly this:

https://connect.accuranker.com/mcp

If your AI assistant supports MCP but cannot connect, contact support. New AI assistant clients may need to be whitelisted.

"I do not see the expected domains."
Check which AccuRanker user is connected. The MCP can only read domains available to that user. If the user should have access, remove filters and ask the AI assistant to list all domains again.

"I get an API access error."
Your user may not have API access enabled. Contact support to enable API access.

"AccuLLM tools say no data."
AccuLLM tools require an active AccuLLM plan. If the plan is active, check that you have added brands and prompts.

"A number does not match the web application."
Ask the AI assistant which date, compare date, filters, and metric it used. AccuRanker compares two point-in-time snapshots, so numbers can differ if the dates or filters do not match the web application.

Data Security and Privacy

The MCP only retrieves data when your AI assistant calls one of its tools. The MCP server sends the request to the AccuRanker API and returns the tool response to your conversation.

The MCP uses the same read-only data access as the Read API. It can retrieve AccuRanker and AccuLLM data available to the user you authorized, but it cannot access unrelated account data such as billing, user settings, or personal information outside the rank tracking and AI visibility data. However, you should always follow your company's internal rules for data access and permissions.
