New Share of Voice: What Changes on October 21, 2026

Our Share of Voice is changing. See what is new, why we updated Dynamic CTR, and what to expect from your data when the changes go live.

On October 21, 2026, we are updating how AccuRanker calculates Share of Voice and are introducing a new model for estimating click-through rates (CTR).

You may notice a change in your Share of Voice when the update goes live. Your rankings and actual traffic are not changing because of this update. What is changing is how we estimate the click potential behind your rankings.

One Share of Voice, Calculated Your Way

AccuRanker curently shows two Share of Voice versions: Share of Voice, which uses a fixed CTR per rank, and AI Share of Voice, which uses our dynamic CTR model.

Starting October 21, there will be one Share of Voice for your Google keywords, and you decide how it is calculated.

SettingOptions
CTR modelDynamic CTR (our machine-learning model) or Static CTR (a fixed rate per rank)
Search volume sourceAR Search Volume (AccuRanker's own estimate) or Google Keyword Planner (local or national)

You can choose your preferred calculation under Account settings and override it for individual domains under their domain settings.

If you do not make a choice before October 21, your account will use our recommended calculation: Dynamic CTR and AR Search Volume. You can change your settings at any time.

Traffic Value will use the same settings as Share of Voice.

Keywords tracked on Bing, Baidu, Naver, and YouTube will always use Static CTR and the Search Volume they are already using. From October 21, they will count in your total Share of Voice.

Share of Voice %

We are also introducing Share of Voice %. It is your Share of Voice divided by the maximum Share of Voice that your keywords can reach, usually the value at rank 1. The scale is 0 to 100%.

The new metric replaces the "Show Share of Voice as percentage" setting and will be available next to Share of Voice in columns, charts, KPIs, reports, and the API. The old "Show share of Voice as percentage" would give you numbers between 0 and 31% - if you want to keep these numbers, they are identical to what you will find in the CTR metric if you choose static CTR.

Columns that Will Change

When the update goes live:

  • The AI Share of Voice, AI Traffic Value, and Estimated Visits columns will be removed. Share of Voice and Traffic Value will show the value defined by your settings.
  • Share of Voice % will become a new column.
  • Your saved table columns, segments, report templates, and report filters will be updated automatically. If a saved link contains a filter that no longer exists, it will open without that filter.

The New Dynamic CTR Model

Google’s results pages look very different today than they did when we built our previous model in late 2025. CTRs have dropped across the board, and the new model reflects this. You can learn more about this in our CTR blog post.

What You Should Expect on October 21

If you use Dynamic CTR, you will notice that the estimated CTR is lower for most keywords. As a result, the Share of Voice will decrease as well.

PositionDesktopMobile
1About 13 percentage points lowerAbout 5 points lower
2 to 10About 2.5 points lowerAbout 1 point lower
11 to 20Less than 1 point lowerLess than 1 point lower

The change at position 1 is smaller on pages without an AI Overview.

For most domains this means the Share of Voice will decrease by about 35% to 60%. A small number of domains go up.

So when you log in on October 21, do not interpret the lower Share of Voice as a sudden decline in your SEO performance. Your rankings have not changed because of the update. We are changing the model used to estimate the click potential of those rankings, and if you have not opted out of AR Search Volume, the underlying Search Volume behind the Share of Voice will also have changed.

If you use Static CTR, the new model will not apply to your Share of Voice.

What Will Happen to Your History

Your Share of Voice settings will apply to all your history.

The new CTR model will only apply from October 21 onward. CTR values before that date keep the previous model’s numbers. As a result, charts using Dynamic CTR will show a step on October 21, 2026.

What Will Not Change

  • Your rankings: We will continue tracking your positions in the same way.
  • Your real traffic: Google Search Console and your analytics will show the same numbers as before.
  • Your position against competitors: We tested the new CTR model on about 5,700 domains. The order of domains by Share of Voice is almost the same before and after the change.
  • Your API and exports: All existing Share of Voice, Traffic Value, and CTR fields will keep their names and their format. They will return the value that your settings define. We are also adding a new share_of_voice_percentage field.

If you have further questions, contact support from your account. We can show you what the change looks like for your keywords.
